A 2012 Recap and a Huge Welcome to Our Newest Instructor Mr. Jeff Barnhill!

Three Tango has had an incredible year! Over 30 Ohio concealed handgun license courses completed, nine Defensive Pistol courses, and three Force-on-Force courses. We've trained several hundred students this year and our safety record is still perfect! Many people have suggested that I'm tempting fate when I mention our zero-accident safety record. I say fate has absolutely no part in gun safety. Fate doesn't cause accidents - negligence does. At Three Tango Firearms Academy we leave nothing to fate and our record proves it!

This year has seen the addition of four new apprentice instructors and we're still growing like crazy! Our apprenticeship program is unique in the industry. It's a way for us to coach and mentor future trainers and it attracts some of the highest potential instructors around. Think you have what it takes? This year has also added our first fully-trained apprentice instructor, Mr. Jeff Barnhill. Jeff began his Three Tango career as a student but quickly realized that he wanted to become more involved and better skilled so he joined our apprenticeship program. After just over a year, he has coached hundreds of students and spent several hundred hours perfecting his new trade. Earlier this year he completed his NRA Instructor Certification and just last month he officially signed off on his first group of students and we couldn't be more proud of him!

Jeff in an incredible instructor and a great friend. He is the type of guy who by just knowing him makes your life better. He has a gift for teaching and a strong eye for safety (which is the most important quality an instructor must have!) And he also shoots a Glock.

Warning! All CCW training is NOT the same

If you are considering getting a concealed handgun license (CHL) then you have some serious decisions to make. The first, and perhaps the most important, is where do you go for training.

Unfortunately, this decision isn't always easy. In the state of Ohio becoming a CCW instructor only takes two days and costs a few hundred dollars. There is no state required "certification test" and you don't even have to have a background in firearms! All it takes is a signing up for a class with the NRA – that’s it. You don’t have to receive refresher training each year, you don’t have to quality at a range, you don’t have to have insurance and you don’t even have to demonstrate that you know how to teach!

Many of the "instructors" you will find searching the internet are nothing but "self-proclaimed experts" who have attended a very basic NRA course lasting two days, watched a video or two and maybe read some magazine articles. Some make it a point to tell you they have received “extensive” handgun training in the police academy or military (mostly exaggerated, by the way!) Their motivation for an instructor is simply to make a few extra dollars on the weekend and they honestly don't know the first thing about defensive firearms training.

In fact, one of the first things these "pseudo-instructors" will tell you is they aren't in it for the money - that they have a real passion for firearms training. It’s ironic, but true. They know all the right things to say to convince you that taking their class will make you some gun-fighting ninja who can walk on water and eat bullets.

We have over 22 years of experience teaching defensive pistol tactics and have taught thousands of people just like you!

You want to see real passion? All of our instructors at Three Tango serve a one-year apprenticeship - unpaid! They spend an entire year learning the ins and outs of concealed carry training before they ever teach a class! During that year they coach hundreds of students and spend hundreds of hours training. They don’t do it for the money. They do it to become the absolute best that they can be!

Three Tango Firearms Academy

Thank you for visiting! Three Tango provides an extensive series of firearms training classes and serves all of Northeast Ohio - Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown.

We are based in Twinsburg and conduct Ohio Concealed Carry Permit classes, Defensive Pistol, Advanced Concealed Carry and Force-on-Force classes.

Begining this summer we will be offering free firearms safety courses open to the general public!

Private Training

Three Tango offers all of our firearm training and CCW courses either privately or in small groups. If you would like personal, one-on-one handgun training, please give us a call! Our instructors can travel anywhere in Cuyahoga, Summit, Portage, Medina, Wayne, Stark and Geauga counties.
